What vaccinations do you provide to new puppies?

For puppies, DHPP vaccines should be given at 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age one year later, a booster of the vaccine is given, which is then good for four years.

Rabies as dictated by Canadian law: The first vaccine is given at 14 weeks of age or later than one year later a booster is given, which will then be good for three years.

How should I prepare my puppy for their first vaccination visit?

At Westbridge Veterinary Hospital, we believe very strongly that adequately planning and preparing for puppy and kittenhood is of the utmost importance. It is for this reason that with every new puppy or new kitten examination, they are scheduled for a one-hour consultation. It allows us the opportunity to give you the tools needed to make the experience of raising your new family addition a positive one.

Every new puppy and kitten that visits our hospital includes one of our puppy or kitten ‘kits,’ respectively. Within these kits are our own personal pet care manuals, with detailed documents including adjusting to the new home, how to manage play-biting, crate training, basic training, behaviour, and much more! We’ve also included brochures with lots of useful information, such as a description of potentially necessary vaccines, pet insurance information, and emergency veterinary care. Of course, a puppy kit wouldn’t be complete without some fun and interactive toys!
